Walters Family Foundation Board Member, Phil Waller, CPA, submitted his letter of resignation to the Board at the Semi-Annual Board Meeting on November 16, 2020. Mr. Waller, known as “Phil” to his friends and co-board members, was an invaluable part of the workings of the Foundation and help to transform its thinking into the 21st century.
Phil began his accounting career with Haskins & Sells in Los Angeles in 1973, and later worked in Riverside focusing on municipalities and districts. He then joined Rogers, Anderson, Malody, & Scott (RAMS) in San Bernardino, a short stint in private practice, and then continues his career at RAMS where he remains as Partner Emeritus. He provided many years of work in auditing, consulting, litigation support, and tax services to all types of industries, organizations, and individuals.
Phil worked as the primary accountant for the WFF from 2003 until his formal retirement in that role in 2012. The WFF Board then invited him to become a board member, which he accepted. He continued in that role until his retirement as a board member at the Semi-Annual Meeting 2020.
Phil has a great sense of humor but is serious about young people. He spoke openly for their education in understanding finance management and handling money and promoted support for organizations that enhanced their improvement in life. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the board. With fondness he was called “the elder stateman.” His retirement comes as a result of significant health issues that he has faced with a winning spirit. While he remains a friend to all the board members, his presence, input, and wisdom will be missed. We stand in awe of his years of experience and help to so many people. The Walters Family Foundation Board salutes him! Thanks, Phil!
